Even better, January sales have delivered some truly unmissable finds. I've spotted standout pieces from several royal-approved brands, including Karen Millen, Boden and Reiss, with discounts of up to 70 per cent.

One highlight is Karen Millen's burgundy velvet suit, comprising a sharply tailored blazer and wide-leg trousers, elevated with a contrasting grosgrain trim for a contemporary finish.

Boden's Canonbury black velvet trousers are another must-have. With their flattering high waist and cropped leg, they transition effortlessly from office hours to evening plans.

I'm also drawn to the understated elegance of the jewel-button velvet shirt, which pairs just as well with jeans as it does with a leather midi skirt.

Velvet tops with asymmetric detailing and subtle cut-outs - revealing just a hint of skin  are everywhere right now. John Lewis offers a beautiful twist-front design, while Reiss presents a more refined take with long sleeves and added coverage.

Speaking of Reiss, its sale may be the most impressive of all, featuring a wealth of velvet dresses at significantly reduced prices. The black midi stands out for its sheer panelling, which cleverly sculpts and contours the figure.

Meanwhile, Whistles' cut-out velvet slip dress delivers a fresh interpretation of the trend, complete with a strappy neckline and side slit. Styled with gold accessories, it's effortlessly striking.

And, of course, no velvet edit would be complete without a little red dress. Albaray has perfected the look with a crushed velvet midi featuring voluminous sleeves - dramatic, regal and undeniably elegant.
