M. R. Štefánik Airport Bratislava (BTS) reached a major milestone in June, handling more than half a million passengers in a single month for the first time in its history. During the month, the airport welcomed 510,152 passengers on arriving and departing flights, representing an 81% increase compared with June 2025, when the airport handled approximately 281,000 passengers.

“Not only did we handle more than 510,000 passengers in June for the first time ever, but we also expect monthly passenger volumes to exceed half a million throughout both July and August. Furthermore, on 3 July we welcomed our two-millionth passenger of the year, confirming that Bratislava Airport is on track to achieve a new all-time annual record of more than four million passengers in 2026,” said Dušan Novota, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of M. R. Štefánik Airport Bratislava.

“Driven by consistent triple-digit year-on-year passenger growth each month, Bratislava Airport is currently Europe’s fastest-growing medium-sized airport, according to the latest traffic statistics published by ACI EUROPE,” he added.

During the first six months of 2026, Bratislava Airport handled 1,948,630 passengers, representing a 123% year-on-year increase. Passenger traffic approached the two-million mark by the end of June, with the milestone being reached on 3 July.

For comparison, the airport handled a record 2.4 million passengers during the whole of 2025, whereas in 2026 it surpassed the two-million threshold just halfway through the year.

Aircraft movements also continued to grow strongly. During June, Bratislava Airport recorded 4,534 arrivals and departures, an increase of 32% compared with the same month last year. In the first half of 2026, total aircraft movements reached 18,627, up 44% year on year.

London, Barcelona, Rome, Košice and Málaga ranked among the busiest scheduled destinations during the first half of the year. In June, however, Antalya became the airport’s busiest destination, supported by strong demand for both scheduled and charter services.
