Alongside the construction of Long Thanh International Airport, Vietnam is accelerating the development of an integrated transport network to improve accessibility and strengthen the airport’s role as a modern aviation hub. Long Thanh International Airport is scheduled to commence commercial operations in December 2026.

During the initial phase, passengers will access the airport via a network of expressways and key transport corridors, including the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road No. 3. This integrated transport infrastructure will significantly reduce travel times from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces while enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the airport’s operations.

In the longer term, Long Thanh International Airport will be integrated into a multimodal transport network comprising metro lines and the North–South high-speed railway. Several urban rail projects are being planned and developed to connect the airport with Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City’s central districts and surrounding urban areas. Once completed, the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh metro line is expected to reduce travel time between downtown Ho Chi Minh City and the airport to approximately 30 minutes.

The integration of expressways, metro lines and high-speed rail will position Long Thanh International Airport as Vietnam’s largest multimodal transport hub. This modern transport infrastructure will not only provide greater convenience for passengers and airlines but also strengthen the airport’s international connectivity, enhance its attractiveness for new air services, and support the long-term growth of tourism, trade and economic development.
