In a quickly growing commercial space market, an increasing number of operational services are supporting communications, Earth observation, navigation, and security-related applications. The initial commercial model is based on scheduled access using a first-come, first-served approach, with defined start and stop time slots.

SSC Space Go fills a different role: a standardized, scalable, automated service for operators whose priority is speed, cost-efficiency, and ease of integration.
“This service adds to our existing ground station capabilities,” continues Vidmark. “We run one of the world’s largest commercial ground networks, with 21 sites across 10 countries. SSC Space Go is an ideal complement to that portfolio by addressing the needs of the rapidly growing small satellite market”.

that need reliable access but do not require – or cannot justify – large, premium antenna solutions.
“SSC Space Go is cloud-based to fit modern cloud workflows,” says Viktor Pankov, Product Owner for SSC Space Go. “It enables rapid access to payload data and seamless operational integration without the friction of legacy systems.
Built on a global network of 4‑meter‑class antennas, supporting S‑band uplink and X‑ and Ka‑band downlink. The initial network includes five strategically placed sites: Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden, Alaska for North Pole coverage, Inuvik in northern Canada, Western Australia, and Punta Arenas in southern Chile. Together, they provide strong coverage of polar and high‑inclination orbits, which remain among the most demanding operational environments.
Near real-time payload data deliveryOne of the defining features of SSC Space Go is its focus on low-latency payload data delivery. Payload data can be downlinked in X‑band and delivered to customers in near real time through cloud-based workflows. This architecture allows operators to access and process data during the satellite pass itself, rather than receiving a single bulk delivery later.
For applications where timeliness is critical – such as maritime monitoring, environmental events, or infrastructure tracking – this can significantly increase the operational value of each contact.
Orchestrated architectureAuthentication for the scheduling API and encryption of payload data delivery are handled using modern, secure cloud mechanisms, designed to integrate directly with customer workflows.
Rather than relying on traditional, hardware-centric ground systems, SSC Space Go uses digitized RF/IF together with software-defined radios and modems. This allows functionality to be deployed, updated, and managed centrally in software across all sites.
The architecture simplifies orchestration, enables faster feature updates, and ensures that all sites use the same system specifications and capabilities. For operators, this means a more predictable and consistent service experience across the network.
Built for automation and scaleAutomation is another core design principle. SSC Space Go is optimized for standardized operations, with simplified scheduling and fast onboarding so customers can get started quickly.
“The service supports simultaneous dual-polarization downlinks. For X‑ and Ka‑band payloads, customers with compatible spacecraft can use dual-polarization channels to increase downlink capacity within the same contact window”, ends Pankov.
