• Healio AI and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery have partnered to expand educational opportunities for ophthalmologists.

Healio AI and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, or ASCRS, announced a partnership to optimize available educational resources for ophthalmologists, according to a press release.

The collaboration adds the clinical educational content from the 2026 ASCRCS Annual Meeting — which offered over 300 hours of educational opportunities — to Healio AI’s expanding knowledge base. According to the society’s website, this year’s meeting featured over 650 studies from 53 sessions.

“The partnership between Healio AI and ASCRS is a natural fit, uniting two organizations dedicated to advancing ophthalmic education,” Joan-Marie Stiglich, ELS, Chief AI Officer at Healio, told Healio. “Both parties share a commitment to providing health care professionals with trusted, up-to-date clinical knowledge.”

ASCRS is a medical society dedicated to enhancing education, advocacy and philanthropy in the field of ophthalmology while promoting the latest research and scholarship. The partnership with Healio AI adds essential ophthalmology content to the generative AI tool’s growing database of verified medical resources, providing ophthalmologists access to answers to their clinical questions at the point of care.

“Ophthalmologists have been using Healio AI between cases — treating it like a thoughtful colleague they consult within the office — or as an adjunct to precharting before a busy caseload,” Stiglich said.

“Together, the partnership ensures practitioners have access to insights and information they need to stay at the forefront of patient care,” she added.

The new collaboration also offers “the next evolution” of the society’s goals of advancing ophthalmic education via innovation, ASCRS Chief Operating Officer Angela Nichols said in the release.

“We are helping ophthalmologists more efficiently discover timely, relevant educational resources that support lifelong learning and clinical practice,” Nichols said in the release. “We are excited to explore how we can expand access to education, create more meaningful learning experiences, and ultimately contribute to better patient outcomes.”
