Signs that have recently gone up across the Las Vegas Valley highlight a prominent endorsement in Nevada’s competitive governor’s race.

“GAVIN NEWSOM ENDORSES AARON FORD,” read the signs, which show Nevada’s attorney general posing for a portrait with a smiling Newsom, California’s Democratic governor.

Much smaller text underneath notes that the image was manipulated and that the message was not approved nor authorized by the campaigns of Ford or Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo.

Although Newsom has endorsed Ford, Better Nevada PAC, a pro-Lombardo political action committee, took credit for the signs.

By law, political action committees operate independently of campaigns.

“We understand Aaron Ford lacks the resources to promote his favorite endorsement, so we thought we’d help him out,” said the PAC spokesperson, John Burke, in a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Burke said that the signs started going up July 11, the day Newsom attended a Nevada State Democratic Party event in Las Vegas, and that more were being stood up as of Tuesday afternoon.

The event was attended by Newsom, Ford, Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev., and party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno.

“The new field office will serve as a hub for the coordinated campaign’s organizing efforts, supporting volunteer recruitment, voter outreach, and community engagement throughout the 2026 election cycle,” the state party said in a news release.

Speaking to reporters at the event, Newsom called Nevada’s governor’s race a key opportunity to flip the state from red to blue.

Ford’s campaign declined to comment on the signs.
