DOHA, July 29. /TASS/. Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has received Igor Sechin, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian oil and gas company Rosneft, Qatar News Agency reported.

The meeting took place on Wednesday at Lusail Palace. Sechin paid a courtesy call on the leader of Qatar during his visit to the country, according to the agency. The parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and ways to further develop it.

Qatar is one of Rosneft’s largest shareholders. The Qatari sovereign wealth fund (Qatar Investment Authority, QIA) holds an 18.46% stake in the Russian company through subsidiaries.
