dji flip drone discount 2026

Your summer vacation probably has room for another pair of shoes. A bulky drone? Maybe not. DJI Flip is one of the few drones designed to slip into an everyday bag, launch from your palm, and even film you without needing someone else behind the controls. And right now, it’s also considerably cheaper than usual.

Right now, the DJI Flip two-battery combo without a remote controller is available for $309, down from $389, while the DJI Flip with the RC-N3 controller has dropped to $349 from $439. At the same time, the DJI Flip with RC 2 screen remote controller is available for $509, down from $639, and the DJI Flip Fly More Combo with RC 2 screen remote controller can be picked up for only $619, instead of $779.

The timing couldn’t be better. DJI’s newest drones continue to face an uncertain path into the US market because of ongoing import and regulatory hurdles, making existing models like the Flip even more attractive for buyers who don’t want to wait around wondering what may, or may not, arrive next.

But here’s the thing: the Flip isn’t interesting just because it’s discounted. It solves many of the problems that stop people from buying a drone in the first place.

‘I don’t want to carry another gadget’

Most drones need a dedicated case. Some almost demand their own backpack. DJI Flip is different.

At under 249 grams, it’s light enough to slip into many everyday bags, and its folding design means it doesn’t take up much more room than a compact camera. DJI even compares its weight to an apple. That’s a surprisingly big deal.

Whether you’re heading to the beach, hiking, road-tripping, or spending a weekend at the lake, you’re much more likely to bring a drone that’s already sitting in your backpack than one that requires extra planning.

‘Flying drones looks intimidating’

DJI clearly designed Flip for people who don’t want to spend hours learning complicated controls.

The drone can take off directly from your palm, and many intelligent shooting modes can be activated simply by pressing a button on the aircraft itself. Depending on the version you buy, you can also fly it using your smartphone or a traditional controller.

The controller-free option is especially appealing for quick travel clips.

Want a cinematic reveal while walking through a national park? Or a family video without asking someone else to film?

Place the drone on your hand, select a shooting mode, let it launch, and it handles the flight path automatically.

‘I’m worried about crashing’

This may be DJI Flip’s biggest selling point.

Unlike most consumer drones, Flip features a foldable full-coverage propeller guard that surrounds the propellers, making it DJI’s first drone with this design.

For beginners, that’s reassuring.

If you’ve ever hesitated because spinning propellers look dangerous around kids, pets or friends, the enclosed design makes the drone feel significantly less intimidating.

It also includes 3D infrared sensing that can automatically brake when it detects obstacles in front of it, adding another layer of confidence during flight.

‘I just want the drone to follow me’

That’s exactly what Flip was built to do.

Its AI Subject Tracking keeps you centred while walking, cycling or exploring, effectively turning the drone into a flying camera operator.

Instead of constantly adjusting controls, you can actually enjoy the activity you’re filming.

DJI also includes familiar QuickShot modes such as Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix and Boomerang, giving casual users dramatic aerial footage with a single tap instead of requiring manual piloting skills.

For solo travellers and content creators, that’s one of the Flip’s biggest advantages.

It isn’t just easy; it shoots great video

Ease of use wouldn’t matter much if the footage looked mediocre.

Fortunately, DJI didn’t cut corners on the camera.

Flip packs a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing 48MP photos, 4K/60fps HDR video, 4K/100fps slow motion, and 10-bit D-Log M colour for users who enjoy editing footage later.

A three-axis mechanical gimbal keeps video smooth even while flying, producing footage that looks far more expensive than you’d expect from an entry-level drone.

The drone delivers up to 31 minutes of flight time per battery, enough for most sightseeing stops or family outings without constantly worrying about landing.

And because it weighs under 249 grams, it also avoids some of the additional regulatory requirements that apply to heavier drones in many countries, making it an approachable choice for first-time pilots. Of course, US users should still follow current FAA rules and Remote ID requirements where applicable.

Why this deal stands out

The drone market has become increasingly complicated for American buyers, with questions surrounding future DJI availability making purchasing decisions harder than they used to be.

That makes today’s discounts worth a closer look.

  • DJI Flip two-battery combo (no remote controller): $309, down from $389
  • DJI Flip with RC-N3 controller: $349, down from $439
  • DJI Flip with RC 2 screen remote controller: $509, down from $639
  • DJI Flip Fly More Combo with RC 2 screen remote controller: $619, down from $779

Whether you already own compatible DJI gear or want a bundle with a built-in display, there’s now a discounted option for just about every type of buyer.

You don’t need a huge backpack.

You don’t need advanced piloting skills.

You don’t even need to carry a controller every time.

Sometimes, the best drone isn’t the one with the most features; it’s the one you’ll actually bring along. And for many people heading into summer, the DJI Flip may be exactly that.
