Palermo Prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia told the anti-mafia commission that most of these weapons end up on the European market
ROME, July 29. /TASS/. About 800,000 units of weapons and ammunition have gone missing in Ukraine, ending up on the European black market, the Il Fatto quotidiano newspaper reported, citing that most of this arsenal comes from European military supplies.
The newspaper noted that since 2022, as many as 780,465 pieces of weapons have disappeared or have been stolen, with 149,000 of them in the first five months of this year alone. Palermo Prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia told the anti-mafia commission that most of these weapons end up on the European market, catching the attention of the Italian mafia group Cosa Nostra.
The newspaper also emphasized that European countries providing military aid to Ukraine prefer to hide the details of their supplies to Kiev, making it harder for police officers to track the flow of weapons.
