Earlier this year, Schlage unveiled its Sense Pro smart lock with HomeKit and Ultra Wideband support for auto-unlocking and locking. And today the company announced it’s launching this month, details below.

Smart locks with Apple Home integration are nothing new, but the accessories have gotten way better this year thanks to Ultra Wideband support that enables auto-locking and unlocking based on your presence.

In years past, smart locks tried to offer proximity-based unlocking via Bluetooth, but it was unreliable and not nearly as secure.

Now, Ultra Wideband (UWB) has enabled automatic locking and unlocking that “just works.”

Currently, the only Apple Home-compatible UWB smart lock available is the Aqara U400.

But on June 29, it will be joined by Schlage’s Sense Pro lock. Per the press release:

The highly anticipated Schlage Sense Pro™ Smart Deadbolt is the brand’s first smart lock to feature its new Schlage Converge™ technology, which uses Ultra Wideband and the user’s home key on a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch to deliver seamless hands-free unlock. More precise than geofencing or proximity-only technologies, Schlage Converge provides intuitive hands-free entry that understands intent to enter by calculating speed, trajectory, and motion and unlocks precisely as the user reaches their door, offering a smarter hands-free unlocking experience that combines ultimate convenience with trusted security.

Other features of the Sense Pro include Matter over Thread, up to six months of battery life, and Aliro compatibility.

Schlage’s Senso Pro will retail for $399 when it launches. That compares to the $269 price tag for Aqara’s U400.
