Kai Trump‘s big high school graduation moment had members of the Trump family turning up to celebrate, but not everyone was in attendance.

On May 15, Kai graduated from The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida with her parents, Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, proudly looking on. Her mom’s boyfriend, Tiger Woods, snuck into the ceremony, per Page Six, after being released from rehab on May 14. While he understandably kept a low profile at the event, it was the Trump family dinner afterwards that raised eyebrows.

Vanessa, Donald Jr., his fiancée Bettina Anderson, Tiffany Trump, and her husband Michael Boulos headed to Blackbird restaurant to toast the graduate. Noticeably missing were President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. The president was returning from a diplomatic trip to China, so his absence was not surprising, but Melania and Ivanka’s presence was definitely missing.

There’s a long history of reported fighting within the Trump family, particularly when it comes to Melania and Ivanka. In Stephanie Grisham’s 2021 book, I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House, she claimed Donald Trump was “in denial most of the time” about his wife’s relationship with his eldest daughter.

Melania allegedly called Ivanka “the Princess” behind her back and that Donald Trump and Melania would disagree about his adult children.

“I did learn that every once in a while the president and first lady would argue about the fact, as he put it to her, that ‘you don’t like my kids,’” Grisham wrote in her memoir. “Both of the women, Melania and Ivanka, were important to him, and it wasn’t in his interest to take one side or the other.”

Still, the stepmother-stepdaughter feud goes back to Donald Trump’s first administration and the wounds are deep.

“Melania lived in New York. She didn’t appear in public or release statements to the press. Her social media was quiet,” Stephanie Winston Wolkoff wrote in her 2020 book, Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady. “Ivanka rushed in to fill the void as ‘acting’ first lady, issuing constant social media posts and press releases galore about her involvement with women’s issues, lobbying Daddy about climate change (alas, unsuccessfully), and attending every meeting she could slink her way into.”

Ivanka and Melania rarely circle each other anymore, but a big family milestone like Kai’s high school graduation might prove that the feud is still running hot in the Trump family.
