Netflix is celebrating the new year with a wide variety of hit movies and television shows for audiences who love action, drama, and comedy.

The streaming platform already confirmed via a blog post on December 10 that box-office hits Annabelle and Aquaman would be available for its users on January 1.

Audiences can also get ready to stream popular shows This is Us, How I Met Your Mother, and Prison Break, which will be available on Netflix starting February 5, June 3, and July 29, 2024.

X (formerly Twitter) users have begun questioning their Disney+ subscriptions since 10 of the 14 television shows coming to Netflix are already on that platform.

'Here's a question. WHAT'S THE POINT OF DISNEY+ THEN,' an X user wrote.

The television show list comes after Disney+ and Netflix struck a short-term content licensing deal earlier this month.

As part of the deal, Netflix received permission to add shows like How I Met Your Mother and Prison Break into their streaming platform next year for 18 months.

Disney+ will also receive the rights to stream all 19 seasons of Grey's Anatomy on their platform starting next year.

All seasons of How I Met Your Mother and Prison Break had already been available on Netflix in the past.

Another show that is part of the 18-month deal that had been on Netflix in the past is Lost. 

Some fans on X are not seeing a need for the Disney+ subscription anymore, as others are happy that Netflix is bringing back shows they removed from their platform a long time ago.

'Bring back Netflix shows originally streamed in the early 2010s,' an X user wrote.

Some X users who have not discussed their subscriptions believe that other streaming platforms should shut down completely. 

One person tweeted: 'There's really no need to have all of the streamers anymore since they all just licensing the same things out to each other over and over again.'

'Disney has a perfect opportunity to bring together Hulu content & Disney Plus content and instead they're giving it all to Netflix lmao,' another person wrote. 

A few Twitter users noted that the show Archer is already on their Netflix and that the streaming platform may have made an error in their 2024 addition announcement.

Archer is currently on Netflix Canada but will not be released in the US until May 13, 2024.

Many X users have been eager to start watching How I Met Your Mother and Prison Break again, while others have recommended Netflix streamers to check out This Is Us once it becomes available for its users on January 8.

One person mentioned that Aquaman is actually one of the many Justice League films that would be featured on Netflix after the streaming platform added 12 DC films last month.

Annabelle has also been added, much to the delight of X users from countries outside the US who have been requesting the hit horror film to be added onto the streaming platform since November.
