Melbourne-based musician Georgia Maq has divided Aussies with a very explicit video she uploaded to promote a show at The Tote bar in Collingwood.

The former frontwoman of indie rock band Camp Cope uploaded the clip to Instagram this week along with the venue, but it was deleted only hours later.

Viewers soon expressed outrage over the content, which showed Georgia kneeling in a toilet as she pretended to perform sexual acts on two men.

The clip opened with the caption, 'Tales from The Tote toilet,' and saw the musician crouched in front of a man in a toilet at the venue.

'Next!' she called out as the man then stepped away and buckled up his pants.

As the man moved off-screen, Georgia came into view with a substance visible on the side of her face.

'Oh, hi! I'm Georgia Maq and I'm playing two sold out shows at The Tote this Thursday and Friday,' she said, before calling out, 'Next!' again.

Another man then stepped into the toilet while unbuckling his pants as the screen faded to black and flashed the dates she would be playing at The Tote this week.

The video was later deleted from Instagram, but reuploaded to Reddit where viewers were left divided over the explicit content.

'Look guys, I'm making blow job jokes, aren't I fun? Guys are just less drama. Be careful walking into my room without knocking...' one person mocked.

'Ew wtf,' wrote another, while someone else replied: 'Yeah, I can't think of anything that could explain this as just gross and unnecessary and I am far from being a prude.'

'Who approved this?' added one.

'This is just terrible more than it is offensive,' wrote another.

'Poor attempt at satire?' one Redditor suggested, while someone else said simply: 'How utterly repulsive.'

Does pushing boundaries in music promotion go too far, or is outrage over Georgia Maq's video misplaced?

However, while many appeared appalled by the video, others came to Georgia's defence.

'It's a pretty weird way to promote a gig but seriously who gives a sh*t? Just let her do what she wants, you don't have to like it but again, who gives a sh*t,' one person wrote.

'She's just having a bit of fun doing a silly bit to promote her show. Relax. Take a deep breath and realise it's not that f***ing deep. If this is what we call "disgracing" than I'm sorry but the word has lost all meaning.

'People love to climb this moral high ground and be the first or the loudest to react to something disgraceful or offensive in some vain attempt to appear better than everyone else.'

'I've seen GWAR spray a crowd with **** blood. This doesn't seem that bad. It's a punk venue,' said another.

'Didn't realise this sub was so full of pearl clutchers. Sure it's a bit gross and maybe not overly funny but also who cares?' a third commented.

Georgia later addressed the controversy on her Instagram Stories, uploading two close-up selfies.

'Sorry you guys hate women lol,' she captioned the first image, adding to the second one: 'Sorry guys! Forgot only men can make jokes about their sexuality!'

Daily Mail has reached out to Georgia and The Tote for further comment.
