A man was fatally shot near downtown Las Vegas Saturday, police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department received a ShotSpotter notification at 12:45 a.m. in the area of North 15th Street and Mesquite Avenue, the department said in a release.

Responding officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 300 block of North 15th Street, according to Metro.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
