Just when it looked like fast-starting Cavalry FC would have to settle for a draw, Amer Didić stepped up to provide late-match heroics on ATCO Field Tuesday night.

Didić delivered in the third minute of second-half stoppage time as his goal secured a 2-1 win over visiting FC Supra du Québec in Canadian Premier League action at the Spruce Meadows venue.

The Cavs took an early lead thanks to Nathaniel Edwards’ third-minute strike, and retained that advantage at the halftime break.

But Keesean Ferdinand equalized for the expansion Supra in the 55th minute.

The win leaves second-place Cavalry (9-2-3) four points back of Forge FC in the battle for the regular-season title.

The Laval-based Supra (4-7-2) remain in sixth on the table.

The Cavs have now won four of their past six matches (4-1-1), but were coming off a 1-0 defeat against Vancouver FC last Friday.
