The injury bug has arrived in the Eagles’ wide receiver room.

Philadelphia star DeVonta Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury, according to multiple reports, forcing him to miss practice Tuesday.

And he wasn’t alone.

Rookie pass catcher Makai Lemon is also nursing a hamstring issue in a concerning development for the Eagles, although neither injury appears to be serious.

“Neither is considered long-term but the Eagles aren’t going to rush them back,” Philadelphia beat writer Dave Zangaro wrote on X.

Smith’s injury comes as he prepares to take over the WR1 job from A.J. Brown, who was dealt to the Patriots earlier this offseason following a turbulent 2025 campaign.

The Alabama product caught 77 passes on 113 targets last season and is expected to command an even larger share of the looks from quarterback Jalen Hurts with Brown out the door.

Smith has topped 800 receiving yards in each of his first five NFL seasons, providing Hurts with a reliable option both downfield and in the intermediate passing game.

The timing is also less than ideal for Lemon, whom the Eagles selected 20th overall out of USC in April.

The rookie is competing for snaps with Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown, both of whom were acquired this offseason, behind Smith on Philadelphia’s depth chart.

Any extended absence would cost Lemon valuable practice repetitions as he attempts to learn the offense, build chemistry with Hurts and carve out an immediate role.

With more than a month until Week 1, the Eagles still have time to proceed cautiously with both receivers before the regular season, but simultaneous hamstring injuries to their projected top target and prized first-round pick will be worth monitoring.

Their absences should create additional opportunities for Wicks, Brown and the rest of Philadelphia’s receivers during training camp.
