HoYoVerse share details about future development plans based on the latest Evolution closed beta for Honkai: Nexus Anima and confirmed some of the new additions will involve more shiny Chromatic variants of the Anima characters and more “juvenile” early evolution forms of them. It also noted there will be more of the creatures that can be used as mounts in the final version of the game and there will be more bonding elements tied to both the Skein success rate system and story.

The Shiny Anima in Honkai: Nexus Anima are referred to as Chromatic. As in Pokemon games or similar titles like Temtem, these feature different color schemes than the regular ones. The announcement on HoYoLab didn’t tease which characters might get these more colorful versions.

That announcement did hint at three of the new juvenile stage Anima. These are basically the early child versions of existing characters we might have seen in past Honkai: Nexus Anima tests. The first of the three on the left looks almost like it could be an early form of Umpurrella, one of the characters we used in the Evolution Test tutorial. The one on the right is a deer-type character much like Lumehart. Given the one in the center seems to be a bear with a mushroom on its head and is holding sticks, that could be an early form for Glampa.

HoYoVerse also discussed a few other changes we’ll see in the final game. It noted performance will be “optimized,” our character will move faster through the world, and it will work on the story and its characterizations. 

Honkai: Nexus Anima is in development for the PC and Android and iOS mobile devices.
