Russia accounts for around 27.1% of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said, adding that mutual trade turnover grew by more than a quarter, specifically 25.5%, in the first five months of this year to $2.3 bln.

"Russia currently accounts for 27.1% of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover. Mutual trade figures are on the rise: in the first five months of 2026 bilateral trade turnover grew by more than a quarter, specifically 25.5%, reaching $2.3 bln. More than 2,000 companies involving Russian capital operate in the republic. We see great potential for expanding cooperation across all areas of our interaction, including digital economy, transport and logistics, industrial and agriculture cooperation," he said at the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum.

Kyrgyzstan is an important participant in integration processes within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the official added.

"Of course, it is particularly worth highlighting the successes achieved by the Kyrgyz economy, largely thanks to its participation in the Eurasian Economic Union. Between 2021 and 2025, Kyrgyzstan’s GDP grew by 55.3%, which is the highest rate within the EAEU. Industrial output gained 45.5%, fixed capital investment doubled, and mutual trade turnover with EAEU countries climbed 2.4-fold, reaching $5.9 bln. The republic’s participation in the Union’s integration processes creates a solid foundation for expanding trade and economic ties, developing industrial cooperation, and launching new joint projects across our Union," he concluded.
