Gazelle has become one of the first major bicycle brands to launch a new e-bike built around Bosch’s recently announced Hub Line motor, unveiling the sleek new Gazelle Curb urban commuter.

The new Curb is designed around simplicity and clean aesthetics, combining Bosch’s compact 45 Nm rear hub motor with a fully integrated 360 Wh battery hidden inside the frame. The result is an e-bike that barely looks electric at first glance, a design approach that has already earned it a prestigious Red Dot Design Award.

Two versions will be offered. The Gazelle Curb C1 features a low-maintenance Gates belt drive and single-speed setup, while the Curb T9 comes equipped with a Shimano Cues 9-speed derailleur for riders who want a bit more versatility for longer rides and varied terrain.

The Bosch Hub Line system was designed for urban riders, making it an obvious choice for bikes like the new Gazelle Curb. Unlike Bosch’s more powerful mid-drive motors, the 45 Nm hub motor prioritizes smooth acceleration, quiet operation, and discreet integration. Gazelle pairs it with hydraulic Shimano MT200 disc brakes, integrated Supernova lighting, full fenders, and a frame lock as standard equipment.

One of the most eye-catching features is the lighting integration. The front light is built directly into the handlebar while the rear light is incorporated into the fender, helping maintain the bike’s minimalist appearance. Rather than using a dedicated display, Gazelle instead includes a smartphone mount compatible with SP Connect and Quad Lock systems.

The integrated battery can also be paired with Bosch’s optional 250 Wh PowerMore range extender for riders who need additional range.

At €2,399, the Gazelle Curb enters the market as a premium urban commuter that still remains relatively affordable compared to many Bosch-equipped city bikes. Compared to most Gazelle e-bike models, which are priced closer to €3,000 to €4,000 in the mid-range and closer to €6,000 or more for more premium models, it’s certainly one of Gazelle’s most affordable new e-bikes.

And while some riders may prefer a removable battery and the higher torque of a mid-drive motor, the Curb showcases how Bosch’s new Hub Line system can enable a cleaner, lighter, and more approachable style of electric bicycle aimed at everyday city transportation.
