Attention, Aldi shoppers! Our favorite budget grocer has officially entered its Tupperware era, and honestly, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for.
The discount grocery chain that’s been helping us save money as food prices soar has just dropped a set of vintage-inspired container sets that are so close to Tupperware’s Heritage collection that I don’t think I would be able to tell the two apart. You would have to be a seriously dedicated plastic food storage enthusiast to be able to distinguish the Aldi sets from the Tupperware sets. Each set comes with four containers, every one paired with its own airtight matching lid (complete with a replica of Tupperware’s famous sunburst design), and they come in three colorways: a blue and green set, a pink set, and a rich purple set. All three are the kind of retro-saturated hues that look genuinely good sitting out on your counter or in your fridge.
If you don’t want to deal with the crowds, you can get the new Tupperware dupes delivered to your door via Instacart.
Most Aldi stores are also available for delivery through DoorDash.
The internet, predictably, is losing its mind about the dupe drop. A Reddit shopper posted about the find, and when someone in the thread asked whether the containers had the same signature, soft, pliable feel of original Tupperware, the response was immediate: Aldi’s version is “way sturdier.” And that’s not nothing! Sturdier means fewer warped lids, fewer containers that collapse when you’re trying to pack leftovers into an already-full fridge.
The catch, because there’s always a catch, is that these gorgeous and quality Tupperware dupes are part of the store’s weekly Aldi Finds rotation, meaning they’re only on shelves for about a week. Shoppers are already reporting that they’re flying off shelves, so this is very much a see-it, grab-it situation. No waiting, no deliberating, no coming back next week.
The blue and green set, in my opinion, is the move.
