Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid has reportedly entered a new relationship months after quietly ending his decade-long romance with actress Courteney Cox, according to the Daily Mail on Saturday, which says the couple separated late last year after growing apart while living on different continents.
"Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much," a source close to the couple told The Mail.
"This was not an ugly split. They had simply reached a point where they were living different lives," the source added. Representatives for Cox and McDaid have not publicly commented on the reported breakup.
A relationship shaped by distanceCox, 62, is best known for playing Monica Geller on the hit sitcom Friends. She is primarily based in Los Angeles. McDaid, 49, who was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, has spent much of his time in London while continuing his work with Snow Patrol and as a songwriter.
The pair were introduced in 2013 through mutual friends, including Ed Sheeran, one of McDaid's longtime collaborators. Their relationship quickly became serious, and they announced their engagement in 2014.
They briefly split in late 2015 but reconciled the following year. Cox later said she was "thankful" for that breakup because it helped improve their relationship, while McDaid previously described himself as "lucky" to be with her.
Although they often divided their time between the United States and the United Kingdom, the long-distance nature of their relationship reportedly became part of the reason they eventually drifted apart.
Johnny McDaid "already dating again"McDaid, 49, is reportedly in the early stages of a new relationship following his split from Cox, 62. The woman's identity has not been revealed. Neither McDaid nor Cox has publicly addressed the report, and representatives for the former couple have not confirmed the claims.
Still, friends close to the pair have stressed that the breakup was friendly and without drama.

Recent public appearancesCox and McDaid kept much of their relationship private, but they were occasionally seen together in public. They were reportedly seen on a double date in Malibu in August 2025 with Cox's Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston and wellness expert Jim Curtis, who has been linked to Aniston. Cox and McDaid were also photographed together at the US Open in September.
Since the reported split, McDaid is understood to be in the early stages of a new relationship. Cox, meanwhile, was recently seen in New York with her Shining Vale co-star Greg Kinnear, who reportedly stayed at her apartment. However, the two have said they are only friends.
McDaid's music careerMcDaid joined Snow Patrol in 2011 and has built a major career outside the band as a songwriter and producer. He has worked closely with Ed Sheeran and co-written several of Sheeran's biggest songs, including "Shape of You," "Photograph," "Galway Girl," "Bad Habits," and "Shivers." He has also collaborated with artists including Pink, Robbie Williams, and Alicia Keys.
Snow Patrol is currently on a major run of UK summer shows, with upcoming performances including dates in London, Edinburgh, and Nottingham.
Cox's family lifeCox remains close to her ex-husband, David Arquette, with whom she shares daughter Coco Arquette. The former spouses have long maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship following their divorce.
While neither Cox nor McDaid has personally addressed the reported separation, sources close to them have emphasized that the breakup was peaceful and that the two remain on good terms after more than 10 years together.
