George Russell set the fastest time in the final practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix, leading a Mercedes one-two ahead of teammate Kimi Antonelli as the Silver Arrows continued their impressive form at the Red Bull Ring.

Russell posted a session-best lap of 1:07.096 to edge Antonelli by just 0.038 seconds, while Lewis Hamilton completed the top three for Ferrari.

Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris followed for McLaren, with Max Verstappen ending the session sixth, less than three-tenths off the pace, setting up an intriguing qualifying session.

After Antonelli topped both Friday practice sessions, Russell bounced back in FP3 despite reporting braking issues early in the session. The Briton delivered his quickest lap in the closing stages to reclaim the advantage, while Antonelli continued his impressive rookie campaign by finishing just 0.038 seconds adrift.

Hamilton ended the session third, 0.115 seconds behind Russell, despite experiencing rear wheel lock-ups and gearbox concerns during the hour-long practice.

The final practice session featured several changes at the top of the timing screens, with Norris briefly leading before Mercedes found additional pace on the soft tyres.

The leading six drivers were separated by less than three-tenths of a second, highlighting just how competitive the field remains heading into qualifying. Piastri and Norris completed the top five for McLaren, while Verstappen remained firmly in contention despite finishing sixth.

Mercedes has now topped all three practice sessions across the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, with Antonelli leading FP1 and FP2 before Russell finished fastest in FP3. The team's pace suggests it will be a strong contender for pole position, although Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull all remain within striking distance.

With multiple teams showing competitive speed throughout practice, qualifying is expected to be one of the closest sessions of the Formula 1 season.
