Jennifer Garner has made rare comments praising ex-husband Ben Affleck. The actress, 54, said Affleck, 53, is an 'incredible' co-parent to Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14. The subject arose as she was asked by Entertainment Weekly about 'the minutiae of raising a family and working.' Amid the success of her Hollywood career, Garner said she 'absolutely' 'got caught up' in motherhood, but described her ex as a 'great partner,' eight years after their divorce was finalized. 'But my kids are a little bigger [now]. Their dad has become this incredible co-parent,' she gushed about Affleck. The Alias alum added elsewhere in the interview: 'When [my kids] were younger, I wouldn’t have done a couple of weeks away without taking them with me. Now they’re in high school. You can’t really do that anymore. But they can stay with their dad. He’s wonderful. He takes care of them. He’s a great partner in that way. And that’s very freeing.'

Garner and Affleck were married from 2005 until their separation in 2015, and their divorce was finalized in 2018. They are sometimes seen running errands with their children, demonstrating their amicable co-parenting relationship. The friendly exes have also been known to spend holidays together post-divorce. The The Five-Star Weekend actress paid tribute to her ex-husband this past Father's Day in a thoughtful Instagram post. She shared never-before-seen snaps of the Oscar winner with their kids and remembered her late father William.

Garner wrote, 'My sisters and I loved to spoil our dad; he never wanted for fresh baked cookies or a bowl of ice cream. 'I see the way my kids dote on their dad and I’m happy for them. To love and be loved by a great dad is a gift.' 'Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads and to the kids of dads, too,' she ended the sweet note. Years after his divorce from Garner, Affleck was married to Jennifer Lopez from 2022 to 2024. He shares a special bond with her 18-year-old twins Oskar and Max Muñiz, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Likewise, Lopez is still active in Affleck's kids' lives; in June she was spotted at an Ariana Grande concert in LA with his child Fin and one of her twins, Oskar. 'For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, [and has a] great ongoing relationship with them,' the Boston native told Entertainment Tonight in 2025. He continued, 'I love her kids. They're wonderful. She's [an] enormously important, tremendous person with a lot of integrity, who I adore and am grateful to.'
