MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. Russian nuclear power plants are reliably coping with the ongoing heatwave, exceeding the country's consolidated electricity forecast by 7.8% since the beginning of the year, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, told the industry publication "Strana Rosatom."

"In terms of electricity generation in Russia this year, we are running 7.8% ahead of the Federal Antimonopoly Service's forecast balance. Total generation since the start of the year has already reached 129.6 billion kWh," Likhachev said.

He added that despite the abnormally hot weather, the plants continue to operate reliably and safely at 100% of their rated capacity.
