MOSCOW, August 10. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov Group plans to develop an unmanned boat based on the BK-10 high-speed assault boat, Kalashnikov Group CEO, board member of the Union of Russian Machine-Building Enterprises Alan Lushnikov said in an interview with TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov.

"We are developing appropriate unmanned boats, in particular, an unmanned version of our BK-10 assault boat. This is a landing and assault boat – it is very good, inexpensive, seaworthy, and equipped with two machine guns. [In general], any type of weaponry can be installed on it at the customer’s request. We are moving in this direction because we understand that modern warfare in the maritime theater of operations is impossible without unmanned boats," he said.

The Project 02450 BK-10 high-speed assault boat is designed to transport up to 10 troops, conduct over-the-beach landing, and provide fire support, as well as to conduct counter-piracy and counter-terrorism operations, and assist vessels in distress. The BK-10 has a maximum speed of at least 40 knots.
