Bella Hadid sparked new health fears as she revealed a debilitating Lyme disease 'flare up' amid her years-long battle with the illness.

The 29-year-old model, who was first diagnosed with the disease back in 2013, gave her followers an update on her health in a post shared to her Instagram stories on Thursday. 

Hadid included a close-up selfie as tears fell down her face and candidly explained that she is finding no relief from symptoms despite listening to what doctors have told her.

'Haven't been able to shake off this flare up... Slept 11 hours. Again... Nap everyday. Took every protocol from any and every doctor I've seen. Still nothing helping. IFYKY,' she wrote. 

The star added that she has since 'diagnosed myself with 12 other things so that's good.'

Hadid assured fans that she is staying hydrated before adding, 'And no I didn't go on a walk because I was out of breath walking to the kitchen.'  

She further expressed, 'I don't think there's a singular brain cell in there working and my last two are beefing with each other so I'm sorry if I ever told you on a bad day to journal I take it back and I'm sorry.'

The model concluded her post by penning that she was able to take a shower 'without fainting.' 

'So again, if you know you know... that felt like a really big accomplishment for me today so maybe someone can send me a cookie or something.' 

In an earlier slide on her Instagram stories, Hadid shared a post that detailed how it can be both 'intimidating and difficult' to be open about the effects of struggling with a chronic illness. 

The media personality also got candid about finding 'the strength to move through another day in a body and mind that are completely exhausted.'

The post also shared that Hadid 'sees' others who are in a similar battle while adding that there is still 'hope.' 

She included another selfie as she rested in bed and wrote, 'Although this barefoot dreams kids poncho does make everything a lil better.' 

Late last year, Hadid also opened up about suffering from 'medical anxiety' amid her ongoing battle with the chronic disease. 

The star reposted a slide from @chronicillnesshumor which read: 'when your chronic illness is chronic illness-ing and someone says "it's always something with you" like... yes... one might say the illness is... chronic.' 

She also re-shared a separate post from influencer Alexandra Wildeson titled 'The Duality of life with chronic illness.'

Underneath, the star typed out, 'The medical anxiety is soooooo real. Thank you for putting every one of my thoughts and daily situations into one swipe. The truuuuuth! @alexandrawildeson.'

Hadid has continued to keep her fans updated with her battle with Lyme disease, which both her mother Yolanda and brother Anwar have also been diagnosed with.

Last year in October for World Mental Health Day, the model talked about her struggles with anxiety. 

'Something i've carried for many years is the weight of anxiety and depression,' she wrote at the time. 

'It can sometimes feel all-consuming, paralyzing, and invisible to the outside world, leaving you in tears before starting your day, wondering why your mind feels so heavy when life around you seems so bright.'

Hadid added that, 'there is often a deep sense of shame that comes with mental health struggles.'

'I sometimes wonder how life has blessed me and how my body and mind are filled with the weight of sadness, depression, and debilitating anxiety on a regular basis.'

The star added that she 'learned that this is not a weakness - it's a part of me.'

She later penned, 'whoever deals with this daily too; I want you to remember that you are not alone. and I love you so much...'

Back in September 2025, Bella uploaded a series of images to Instagram with some showing her receiving treatment inside a hospital.

That same month, her mother Yolanda uploaded a post to give an emotional glimpse at her daughter's battle with Lyme disease.

Hadid could be seen in a hospital bed hooked up to IVs while another image was taken as Yolanda gave her daughter a kiss on the cheek.

'The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease is hard to explain or understand for anyone,' Yolanda penned.

'I try to lead by example on our Lyme journey but my own pain cannot compare to watching my baby suffer.'

She also shared an uplifting message to her daughter by adding, 'You are relentless and courageous. No child is suppose to suffer in their body with an incurable chronic disease.

'I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite the failing protocols and countless setbacks you have faced.'

She further expressed how 'proud' she is of her daughter while also calling her both a 'survivor' and 'warrior.' 

Hadid has been open with with her public battle with Lyme disease on social media and back in 2023, the star took a five month break from modeling due to her health issues.

During an interview with Vogue Italia earlier this year, the model recalled having to turn down modeling jobs amid her health battle which made her feel 'disposable' in the industry. 

'Now I know that if I'm able to say "No," even going through my [Lyme disease] treatment last year and having to say no to every job for almost a year, which I cried about. I was emotional because you feel disposable.' 

She also discussed about separating her own personal value from her work life. 

'I struggled a lot with this and talked about it a lot in therapy. My successes and the things I do in my work don't equate to who I am as a person, how loved I am, or how good I am.' 

Hadid continued, 'For a long time, if I said no to something, I was afraid they'd never call me again. 

'But then I let go of that thought, too, and now I know that people know my heart, my personality, and who I am. And that's okay; I'm enough.'
