What's the Right Level of Friction for Pay-by-Bank?

Joining FinextraTV at Payments Unleashed in London, Dean Wallace, Director, Consumer Payments Modernisation, ACI Worldwide discussed the evolution of pay-by-bank and some of the current obstacles. Wallace provided context to the growth, describing how many have tried to get rid of cards and pay-by-bank is perhaps the most succesful, but is still not an aggressive threat, given how ingrained cards still are. Looking at multi-rail environments, Wallace explains that the way that banks or cooperatives transition customers to new approaches and away from cards will define whether they stay loyal. He goes on to discuss the presence of friction and how some level allows a customer to feel safe, but too much will ruin the experience.
