ARRI has officially introduced the Omnibar, a new battery-powered LED lighting tube. In many ways, some in our industry might be thinking, “finally.” It seems like ARRI has taken a little while to release the very versatile Omnibar LED tube light.
Available in both two-foot and four-foot configurations, the Omnibar combines ARRI’s traditionally high-end color science with a lightweight, IP65-rated form factor intended for fast-moving productions and location work. The fixtures are offered in black or blue/silver finishes and support modular daisy-chaining for larger lighting builds.
ARRI says the Omnibar delivers full-spectrum light quality with CRI and TLCI ratings of 98 at 5600K, aiming to match the output consistency of the company’s established SkyPanel and Orbiter ecosystems. The system also introduces high-resolution pixel control, with 16 zones on the Omnibar 2 and 32 on the Omnibar 4, allowing cinematographers and lighting programmers to create dynamic in-camera effects and programmable lighting animations.
One of the most distinctive features is the fixture’s interchangeable magnetic optics system. Users can quickly swap between a round diffuser for softer ambient light, a flat diffuser for more directional effects lighting, or an intensifier for increased output and punch. The lights can also be operated open-face for bounce applications or integrated set lighting.
The Omnibar platform also emphasizes portability and wireless operation. Each unit features internal battery power, Bluetooth and CRMX wireless control, and weather-resistant construction, making it suitable for both studio and exterior production environments. ARRI’s Omnibase accessory allows multiple fixtures to share centralized power and data distribution while supporting extended multi-bar configurations up to 24 feet in combined length.
To me, the launch seems strategically important for ARRI following a period of corporate restructuring and renewed focus on lighting innovation. Several trade publications have described Omnibar as one of ARRI’s most accessible lighting products to date, although pricing still positions it firmly in the premium professional market.
Pricing begins around €615 for individual units, while larger creator and production kits scale significantly higher depending on included accessories and transport systems.
For cinematographers, gaffers, and virtual production teams, the Omnibar appears to signal ARRI’s intent to compete more directly with the rapidly evolving modular LED market while maintaining the company’s longstanding emphasis on color fidelity and production-grade durability.
