Little Chonk

Little Chonk is a small business based in New York, started by Bryan Reisberg. His famous pup, Maxine (@madmax_fluffyroad on IG), inspired him to create an innovative dog backpack and other useful dog products.

I was gifted this doggie water bottle for my 16-year-old rescue dog, and she LOVES it! It's leakproof, holds 15 ounces of water, and features a carbon filter to keep your pup's water freshest when they drink! Once they're done sipping, you can easily retract the water back into the bottle if they didn't drink all the water you poured out for them. We bring this bottle on long walks, in the car, and pretty much everywhere we go because it's super handy. We love it so much that we even bought another to gift to our dog's BFF!

Get it from Little Chonk for $28 (available in five colors).

2. A set of cooling towels because the warm weather temps can sometimes have your pups constantly whining, which probably means "I'm hotttt. 🥵" Just put it under water, wring it out, and you've got yourself an instant chill towel. Reviewers in hot climates swear by these and say they are a must-have.

It also keeps its chill for three hours and will chill again immediately when you soak it in water and repeat the process.

Promising review: "This product was a great purchase. I was looking for a cooling towel that was lightweight, easy to use and care for, and pet-friendly. This fits all my requirements. I don’t do well in the heat… This keeps me nice and cool. Very comfy to wear around the neck. The four-pack in fun colors was definitely a true bargain. Even my dog Sammy approves. He always overheats when outdoors during the summer. Now we can all enjoy the outdoors despite the hot temps. Highly recommend!" —Jl33NYC

Fits perfectly, stays on, keeps her cool, and was very affordable." —Shawna

Former BuzzFeed Shopping contributor Ciera Velarde says: "My family uses these on our goldendoodle (who lives in Texas!) in the summer because he loves to run around our pool and he ends up with roughed-up, bloody paws from the hot pavement. When we first got these for him, he definitely walked like a baby deer! But after a day or two of wearing them inside the house, he's been comfortable wearing them outside ever since, and walks/runs normally with them on! They stay secure with the Velcro straps even when he's zooming around the pool trying to get splashed."

After 15–20 minutes of non-use, the pad will "recharge," and then your pet can go back to enjoying the pad's cooling effect.

Promising review: "This Cool Pet Pad by The Green Pet Shop has been a fantastic addition for my golden retriever. She’s the type of dog who easily gets warm, especially in the summer, and this mat has become her favorite spot to relax. No setup required — it’s ready to go straight out of the box, with no water, refrigeration, or electricity needed. Just place it down, and it activates with your pet’s weight. Super convenient! She loves to nap on it, stretch out, and even chew her bones while lying on it. I’ve definitely noticed she seems more comfortable and content, especially on hot days. The cooling effect is gentle but effective, and the gel is non-toxic, which gives me peace of mind. If your dog tends to overheat or needs a comfy spot to cool down, this is a great investment. Promising review: "I have two Lab/Aussie mutts, and they LOVE these! We fill them with unsalted broths (turkey, chicken, beef) and freeze them. Great treat after a long romp in the summer heat. After the broth is gone, they make great chew toys. No hunks have come off, even with our aggressive chewer." —Ama

Promising review: "These seem to be pretty comfortable for my dog — he wears them without complaint (mostly), and they stay on fairly securely. I bought them to protect his eyes from both the sun and potential road debris, since he likes to stick his head out the window when I'm driving. The lenses do scratch fairly easily, but the fit is really good, so that makes up for it." —MJ Paulson

Get them from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in two sizes).

13. floating long leash to give your dog the freedom to frolic in the ocean or lake without you having a full panic attack every time they wade a little too far out. It stays on top of the water so you can grab it easily and reel them back in whenever needed — because as much as they think they're ready to doggy paddle to Portugal, they are not.

Promising review: "I have a dog that loves to swim, but has zero recall skills. This product allows us to enjoy the water and gives her the freedom to play. Other ropes and leads we’ve used have absorbed water and become quite heavy and cumbersome. This product really floats and prevents tangles as my dog swims. It barely absorbs water, allowing us to wind up the rope quickly and finish the hike dry and ready for next time. If I had one wish, I wish it had a more substantial snap, but otherwise I give it 10/10!" —KT

Get it from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in two lengths and three colors).

14. A hands-free dual dog leash, perfect if you've got more than one dog and are tired of feeling like you're in the middle of a game of tug-of-war because one pup wants to stop and sniff while the other is rushing to find the next good pee spot. And when you do need a little more control, the four different handles are easy to get a hold of.

Promising review: "Lots of good features here that work well for my two Aussies and me. First, the waist attachment is game-changing — hands are free, no more jerking your arm out of the socket when a squirrel runs by. Next, there are three bungee sections and four handles on this leash — control of the dogs is easy, and the bungees take all the jerkiness out of the walk. The leash also has swivel points throughout, which help prevent tangles. Finally, the attachment clips are all heavy-duty and big enough to clip easily. This is a great product for my needs!" —K. Bowes

Get it from Amazon for $18.95+ (available in two sizes, in one- or two-dog configurations, 18 colors/prints, and a premium version with a utility belt).

15. An inflatable dock platform that makes getting in and out of the water way easier for your dog — no more scrambling or slipping. But beyond the safety factor, it also doubles as a little floating lounge for them, which means your dog might actually be having a more relaxing summer than you are.

He wore it around the house a few times in order to get used to it. He didn't like it at first, but then got comfortable with it. A dog with their collar attached to the attachment, which is mounted slightly above the back wheel

Promising review: "Brilliantly designed and built, with high-quality materials. Easy to install below the seat. My 2-year-old retriever weighs 70 pounds and loves to run. Now, he can safely run beside me. We just took our first ride with Walky Dog, and it was great. Walked him connected to the bike for 100 yards first. The adjustable spring functioned well. I could feel some tugs, but stability was not an issue. Installed on the left to avoid long hair in the bike chain. Looking forward to many fun rides with my loyal friend. Take water and use a harness with a D-ring on top. Went slow for about one mile and practiced turns and stops. No problem. Wore heavy gloves and a helmet just in case. Highly recommended." —Peter
