Kai Trump has found herself in the middle of an editing controversy after fans noticed that boos were removed from a video she posted of herself and her grandad Donald Trump at Monday's Knicks game.

The promising golfer, 19, joined the president for Game 3 of the NBA finals at Madison Square Garden on June 8, but their appearance was not well received by the crowds.

In footage from the night, boos - described as 'thunderous' by the official White House pool report - rang out around the arena for approximately 10 seconds when the cameras cut to Trump.

The president appeared to take the negative reaction in stride and raised a wry smile to the crowd as he saluted.

He then put his fist in the air as Grammy Award-nominated artist Avery Wilson sang the national anthem.

His granddaughter Kai also seemingly smirked at the heckling as the pair watched on from behind protective screens.

But Kai's social media upload appeared to paint a different picture as the negative response was seemingly edited out.

On Wednesday, she posted a 15-second clip where only applause could be heard.

'Thank you to 15SOF for capturing this special moment with my Grandpa,' she captioned the video.

Social media users were quick to notice that the boos appeared to be totally dialed down in the clip.

'They even edited out the boos for grandpa,' one pointed out in the comments on Facebook.

'Didn't sound boo-y to me,' added another. A third continued: 'HAHHAHAHA THE EDITED CHEERS. That's hilarious, nice try!'

'Ummmm did they get the wrong sound bite?' asked someone else.

'Choosing the clip where they filter out the boos huh?' a fifth quizzed.

Amidst the scrutiny, video company 15 Seconds of Fame told Page Six that they had altered the sound on the clip before sending it to Kai to post.

'The video shared by Kai Trump on Instagram was exactly the clip delivered by 15SOF to her account on our app and at no time did she request that any audio be altered, enhanced, replaced or otherwise manipulated,' a company spokesperson said.

'Due to various broadcast, licensing, and contractual restrictions, 15SOF frequently cannot distribute original event audio and instead utilizes automated alternate contextual audio tracks as part of our content-delivery process. The audio selection process is entirely automated and is not directed by individual users.'

The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Kai for comment.  

Trump's Knicks game appearance sparked huge controversy. 

Ahead of his arrival, he shut down large swathes of Manhattan, with a steel ring erected around the famous arena to ensure his protection. Many watch parties were also canceled.

Afterwards, numerous people slammed the president as 'selfish' for deciding to attend New York's big homecoming night.

During the game, Trump was caught on camera with his eyes closed which prompted online speculation that he had fallen asleep.

The president was also asked for his reaction to the high ticket prices, causing more anger by telling fans to 'watch on TV' if they could not afford to go.

Trump, who reportedly did not pay for his own ticket and was instead invited for free by Knicks owner James Dolan, said: 'Well, I know, but they can watch it on television.

'It's sort of semi-free to watch it on television. But that's the way life goes... now if the game wasn't as big - if the team wasn't a big success - you could go very easily. So you can do that, too.'
