Дата публикации: 13-08-2026 06:17:07

Human remains found at Palomar Mountain Wednesday night are not believed to be of the missing woman Angelica Brophy, Oceanside police confirmed.
After being notified of a foul odor in the area, a volunteer group — likely searching for missing Oceanside mother — discovered a body around 4:30 p.m. off South Grade Road, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Since the remains were found when it was dark, detectives could not determine identifying characteristics or the extent of the injuries, SDSO Lt. Hernandez told NBC 7.
Palomar Mountain State Park is where Angelica Brophy, the missing nurse from Oceanside, was last seen and where her vehicle was found. The body was found about 6 miles from the park.
Oceanside Police later confirmed the remains were not believed to be of Brophy. The agency said it was in touch with both SDSO and the Brophy family.
The remains were likely those of a male, SDSO investigators said. The individual’s identity and cause of death was being investigated by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
NBC 7 reached out to Angelica’s family members, who said, “Although I understand that the remains are not Angelica, our hearts go out to the family of the deceased.”
The San Diego County Sheriff’s homicide unit is investigating.
Anyone with information on the human remains investigation was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit at (858) 285‑6330 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580‑8477.
