Adventure Landing, a Raleigh staple, will close to the public on Sunday.

The family entertainment center has been a fixture along Capital Boulevard for 38 years, where families have celebrated birthdays and enjoyed miniature golf, go-kart racing and arcade games.

"It has truly been a privilege to bring fun, laughter, and lifelong memories to so many families throughout the years," owner Hank Woodburn said.

Woodburn thanked the guests, employees, schools, churches, businesses and community organizations that have supported Adventure Landing over the years. He said the center has cherished being part of birthday parties, family outings, annual Easter egg hunts and other community events.

The business said in a release that its property lease was not renewed.

In March, rumors circulated that Adventure Landing was closing, but owners told WRAL at the time that those reports were not true.

Now, the closure is official, with the center’s final day set for Sunday.

On Friday, families headed to Adventure Landing for one more visit before the longtime Raleigh attraction closes its doors.

Katy Pagano brought her two sons and nephew, and the group headed straight for laser tag.

"We've been coming here for at least a decade," Pagano said.

Shannon Gess also brought her son and his friend back for one last visit.

"It's an amazing place, and we're sad to see it go," Gess said.

Even WRAL's Ken Smith took one more spin around the go-kart track.

"I feel like a kid again!" Smith said.

For a few minutes, it was a chance to turn back the clock and be kids again. Soon, the rides and games will be gone, but the memories made at Adventure Landing will remain for the families who spent decades coming through its doors.

The company is asking anyone who still has arcade tokens, tickets, Groupons, gift certificates or other unused offers to visit the park before it closes Sunday.
