The high-octane drama of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship reaches its climax at ExCeL London on Aug. 15 and 16, as Hankook Tire & Technology serves as the official tyre supplier for the decisive Season 12 finale at the 2026 Hankook London E-Prix.
With all eyes on Royal Victoria Dock, the Drivers’ World Championship hangs in a razor-thin balance. Jake Dennis leads the standings with 146 points, holding a narrow two-point margin over Mitch Evans and a five-point cushion over Pascal Wehrlein, keeping the title race completely wide open. Meanwhile, the Teams’ World Championship is also set for a thrilling resolution, with Jaguar TCS Racing holding a 14-point advantage over the Porsche Formula E Team, which has already wrapped up the Manufacturers’ World Championship title.
ExCeL London stands out as one of the most demanding circuits on the Formula E calendar. The technical 2.077-kilometer, 20-turn track transitions drivers from the smooth, lower-grip surface inside the exhibition halls out onto high-abrasion asphalt. Variable lighting and rapid elevation shifts further shape the rhythm of this short, technical lap.
Because energy consumption at this indoor-outdoor circuit is relatively low, qualifying performance and track position are expected to carry added importance throughout the double-header weekend. Furthermore, the short out-lap leaves teams with limited time to bring their tyres into their optimal operating window before a qualifying run. Across both races, teams will need to extract consistent performance from the Hankook iON Race tyre as the cars repeatedly move between the circuit’s contrasting surfaces and environmental conditions.
Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsport, emphasized that London brings several unique challenges together within a very short lap, as drivers navigate indoor and outdoor sections, changing surfaces, shifting light, and elevation in rapid succession. He added that with the title fight so close, qualifying and track position will matter enormously, noting that the iON Race tyre was engineered specifically to perform consistently across these transitions and provide teams with a stable, dependable platform throughout the weekend.
Beyond the track action, Hankook will bring fan-driven innovation to life at the Hankook Fan Village booth by showcasing the winning design from its AI-powered helmet campaign, 'Make it Yours, Make it Race.' Developed in collaboration with Formula E and DS PENSKE, the fan-created concept has been produced as a full-scale physical racing helmet, while paper replicas featuring the artwork will be distributed to visitors. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore displays highlighting Hankook’s EV-dedicated iON tyre technology and product line-up.
Rounds 16 and 17 will begin at 15:05 local time on both Saturday (Aug. 15), and Sunday (Aug. 16), with full global broadcast details available on the 'How to Watch' page of the official Formula E website.
