Paramount-owned broadcaster 5 in the UK has commissioned a one-off documentary examining the finances of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
Produced by ITN Productions, Nigel Farage: Where Does the Money Come From? (1×60’) comes off the back of the Parliamentary Standards Commission’s investigation into financial gifts to Farage, who has been reinstated as MP for Clacton after winning yesterday’s by-election.
The doc will put Farage’s finances under the microscope to ask how he has built such a sizeable fortune. It will unravel the combination of donors, companies and payments that have reportedly landed him more than £2m (US$2.7m) in outside income since entering parliament in 2024, plus millions more over the course of his political career.
Premiering on 5 on August 22, the doc is exec produced by Jeremy Daldry, deputy head of factual at ITN Productions. The producer-directors are Katie Harris and Chris Price-Morgan.
Daldry said: “Nigel Farage’s political reach has the potential to have a huge impact on our nation. The Parliamentary Standards Commission’s investigation on his finances makes it the perfect time to unpack this story.”
Federico Ruiz, commissioning editor at 5, said: “Topical, reactive documentaries are part of our DNA here at 5, and the questions around Farage’s finances really matter to our viewers. We dig deep into the publicly available information to examine the facts.”
