<div><p>The V5000 Matrix is a lift-plus-cruise hybrid-electric/all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft being developed by AutoFlight Europe GmbH. Unveiled in February 2026, the aircraft performed a remotely piloted transition from thrustborne hover to wingborne cruise, demonstrating that flight testing is already underway. Industry commentators have suggested that entry into service could be as soon as 2027/2028, although there is no confirmation of this. Certification is to be sought from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) under powered-lift regulations.</p><h2>Structure and Powertrain</h2><p>The Matrix pushes regulations to their maximum, being a 10 seat eVTOL with a maximum take-off weight of 5,700kg (hybrid version). The aircraft could be configured in a 6-seat VIP layout, or a 9-seat business layout plus a pilot. It will also feature a lavatory, the first eVTOL design to incorporate this, an indication of its lengthier flight duration capabilities. An uncrewed cargo variant is also in development. The intended market is more regional-focused than previous eVTOL designs.</p><p>Structurally, the V5000 is an evolution of the previous Autoflight Prosperity I and CarryAll cargo variant. It features a long, aerodynamic cabin with panoramic viewing windows and skid-style landing gear.
