A Ryanair pilot was forced to intervene on a couple who got too cosy during a flight from Malaga to Liverpool, reminding them to 'tone down' their 'overly amorous' behaviour. 

An eyewitness claimed the incident occurred on a 8.15pm flight from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Liverpool John Lennon Airport on 7 January. 

The pilot, who addressed a message directly to the couple over the plane's intercom, began humorously before sternly warning the pair to be mindful of other passengers on board. 

As reported by GB News, the pilot announced: 'Sorry to have to say this, we thought there was a problem and we couldn't land at Liverpool, but I have had reports that a couple on board tonight are engaging in overly amorous displays of affection.

'While it's very nice that you are so fond of each other, there are children on the flight and your behaviour is totally unacceptable.'

He added that the couple 'know who they are,' before 'kindly' suggesting the pair 'tone it down' for the remainder of flight - or face consequences.

The message was issued just before the plane touched down at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

It has not been made clear whether the couple - who remain unidentified - followed the pilot's instructions or if they faced further action once the plane touched down. 

The Daily Mail has approached Ryanair for comment.  

It comes as a man was convicted after 'excessively' kissing his girlfriend on board a flight - despite attendants repeatedly asking them to stop.

Reuben Jeremy Finn was travelling on an Air New Zealand flight when the offence took place and was also sentenced for a string of theft and drug offences.

Shortly after take-off, Finn and his partner reportedly began 'kissing excessively' before escalating to sexual behaviour in front of 48 passengers and cabin crew.

Flight attendants intervened, asking the pair to stop after complaints from passengers and told them the situation would be escalated to the pilot.

Witnesses said they saw Finn with his hands inside his partner's bra and later down her trousers.

When confronted again, the pair pretended to be asleep while continuing the behaviour. They were arrested when the flight landed.

The prosecutor told the court the incident had placed the public in an 'extremely uncomfortable position'.

Finn was sentenced to six months' community detention with a curfew from 8pm to 5am weekdays, along with 12 months' intensive supervision. 

Rules around PDA on planes seem to vary depending on the country you are travelling to or from.

Kissing on a plane is not inherently illegal unless it escalates into indecent exposure, public indecency, or causes discomfort to others. 

Such behaviour could lead to criminal charges or being escorted off the plane.
