A Temple University student was chased and attacked by a group of juveniles in the early hours of Sunday morning, the school’s police department said on social media.
The incident happened at around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday when a group of juveniles chased a 20-year-old student into the lobby of Morgan Hall South and struck him, police said.

An investigation revealed that the group had initially approached the student, asking how much his sneakers cost. When the student told them, they replied that they would buy them from him right then. The student refused and started walking away, at which point one of the suspects punched him
The student sustained injuries to his upper lip and right hand. He declined medical treatment once first responders arrived, police said.
“It was kind of a scuffle between the student and multiple juveniles,” said Deputy Chief of the Temple University Police Department Gaetano Sava. “So, kind of hitting him, pushing him down, pushing him around.”
The group of juveniles also damaged university property, including a monitor, police said.
The security breach into university housing has made some students worry.
“They could have came upstairs in the elevators. What was gonna happen? But, like yeah, it was bad,” said Isatu Bah, a Temple University student.
However, Sava told NBC10 that the building had security and that anyone can access the lobby so that guests can sign in.
The suspects never made it past the building’s turnstiles, Sava said.
The suspects were captured on surveillance cameras and police are asking for help locating them.

Temple and Philadelphia police have increased patrols in the area and are urging anyone with information to contact the PPD at 215-686-TIPS (8477), Central Detectives at 215-686-3093, Temple’s Investigations Unit at 215-204-6200 or Temple Police at 215-204-1234.
“There’s a nonstop effort, a constant evaluation to try to provide the best services possible to the North Philadelphia community, and of course the campus community as well,” Sava said. “So, we’re constantly trying to innovate, constantly trying to develop new strategies to do that.”
