SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A portion of Loop 101 was shut down in Scottsdale early Thursday morning due to a crash that left a driver with serious injuries.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the crash happened around 3:50 a.m., when a pickup truck crashed into the concrete median wall and caught fire.

Video from the Arizona Department of Transportation showed the truck crashed into the median barrier wall, with all southbound lanes of the freeway blocked.

Fire officials were able to extinguish the truck fire, and the driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is not known.

All southbound lanes were blocked during the investigation. The roadway reopened around 7:15 a.m.
