ZINEGOAK presents its protocol for action and prevention against gender-based violence, anti-LGTBIQ+ discrimination and any other discriminatory behaviour or human rights violations. The aim of this protocol is to ensure that all festival activities take place in a respectful and violence-free environment.

We recognise that sexist and LGBTIQ+phobic violence are structural manifestations of inequality and discrimination. Consequently, we take collective responsibility for preventing and addressing them from a feminist, intersectional and community-based perspective.

This protocol applies to everyone associated with the festival, namely the organisers, staff, volunteers, artists, filmmakers, jury members, guests, collaborators, participants, the public and staff at the venues where ZINEGOAK’s activities take place.

ZINEGOAK DOESN´T TOLERATE:
  • Hate speech or discriminatory remarks.
  • Verbal, physical, psychological or sexual harassment.
  • Sexist, misogynistic or LGBTIQ+phobic behaviour.
  • Intimidation, threats or abuse of power.
  • Offensive comments, behaviour or attitudes based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
  • Discriminatory behaviour based on origin, ethnicity, skin colour, nationality, religion or beliefs, social class, age, language, disability or any other personal or collective condition.
ZINEGOAK UNDERTAKES TO:
  • Inform and disseminate this protocol to all festival participants and staff.
  • Have a dedicated team in place to manage situations involving violence or discrimination.
  • Provide accessible and secure channels for reporting any incident or situation of distress to the organising team.
  • Take immediate action in the event of any assault or discriminatory behaviour.
  • Guarantee the confidentiality and protection of those affected.
  • Avoid revictimisation and always respect the timing, decisions and needs of the person affected.
  • Prioritise the safety and well-being of those who have been assaulted.
  • Take the necessary measures to prevent the assault from continuing or contact with the aggressor.
  • Coordinate, where necessary, with specialist support services, healthcare, legal or emergency services.
  • To liaise, where necessary, with specialist support services, healthcare providers, legal services or emergency services.

ZINEGOAK views culture as a space for encounter, social transformation and the defence of human rights. Therefore, everyone taking part in the festival shares the responsibility of helping to create safe spaces that are free from violence and respectful of diversity. In the event of non-compliance, the organisers reserve the right to restrict, suspend or deny access to and participation in the festival’s activities to those involved.
