The DAR Moccasin Bend Chapter presented several local high school students with awards.

The JROTC award was presented to Cadet Lieutenant Paige Brooks of Ooltewah High School and Cadet Aliyah Alazzam of Sale Creek High School. The DAR JROTC Award was established by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to recognize cadets in Junior ROTC for exceptional achievement and character It honors students who exemplify loyalty, patriotism, dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability, and scholastic excellence.

The DAR Good Citizen award was presented to Carlie Lewis of Sale Creek High School and McKinna Wiles of Notre Dame High School. The DAR Good Citizenship Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
