Level-5’s hit time-hopping cozy RPG, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, is now available on mobile devices starting today, Aug. 20. Originally launched on consoles and PC, the game brings its complete island-rebuilding adventure to smartphones and tablets.

The mobile port costs $24.99 — priced at ₱1,490 in the Philippines — and refreshingly skips the microtransaction trend with zero ads and in-game purchases. We think it’s a pretty reasonable asking price for a game that takes roughly 70 hours to complete, or easily over 100 if you are a completionist. That upfront cost also gives you all previously released content, including the recent free expansion, The Sinister Broker Bazario’s Schemes.

If you are unfamiliar with Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, the game tasks you with restoring a deserted island across a 1,000-year timeline. It has been a huge commercial success for Level-5, surpassing 1.5 million copies sold globally, largely due to its addicting gameplay loop of letting players freely switch between 14 unique jobs — or “Lives” — to gather materials, craft items, and fight monsters at their own pace.

We tested the game on two devices to see how the port holds up: a midrange tablet running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 700-series processor and the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, which is powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Based on our time with the prologue, this is an excellent port. It runs at a smooth 60 FPS with the graphics cranked up on the flagship, but it also performs admirably on midrange hardware. It even features full controller support for those who prefer physical inputs over a touchscreen.

Moving to iOS and Android doesn’t mean playing in isolation, either, as Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time supports both cross-save and crossplay with its console and PC counterparts. On the downside, the local 2P Family Co-op feature found in other versions didn’t make the cut. However, standard online multiplayer remains supported at launch.

Beyond the game itself, this release speaks volumes about the broader mobile gaming landscape. We’re seeing a growing trend of console and PC titles jumping to smaller screens. And that shift away from standard mobile fare is gaining momentum, which we expect to continue when Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris arrives early next month.
