After 55 years in the sky, the Snowbirds were expected to fly over the Ottawa-Gatineau region this weekend from Friday through Sunday. Local fans can head to the Gatineau Airport to catch the show.

The famed Snowbirds will then go on hiatus until new planes (the CT-157 Siskin II) can replace the Snowbirds current Canadair CT-114 Tutor jets, which are being retired at the end of the year. This means Snowbirds likely won’t be flying again until the early 2030s, marking a decade long-hiatus after more than half a century of holding Canadians’ gazes in awe.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Gatineau Airport but the Snowbirds won’t be performing until approximately 6:30 p.m. They will appear among many flypasts organized by the AERO Gatineau-Ottawa as part of the 2026 edition of the show.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Snowbirds will fly at approximately 3:30 p.m. both days, marking a bittersweet closing of this year’s AERO Gatineau-Ottawa flyover and their time in the sky for the next decade for good.
