Adam Scott and Amy Poehler played the perfect couple in Parks and Recreation - but was there a little more than just an on-screen spark?

Fans are losing it over a quip from Will Arnett, 54, to Adam Scott, 51, who appeared on his podcast SmartLess on Monday.

During the episode, Scott was joking with Arnett and his co-hosts, Jason Bateman, 56, and Sean Hayes, 54, about asking guests intimate questions - leading to a barrage of lighthearted deeply personal questions.

The hosts asked whether Scott was 'emotionally scarred' after his parents divorced as a kid, if anything drives him 'crazy' about his wife Naomi Scott and if he has a favorite child.

Arnett then chimed in with 'Have you ever had an emotional affair with a coworker?' - immediately piquing the interest of Parks and Recreation fans.

Amy Poehler, 53, was married to Arnett from 2003 to 2016, with the couple splitting in 2012, midway through filming Parks and Recreation.

Scott played Poehler's love interest in the popular series, which ran from 2009 to 2015.

A snippet of the podcast was shared online, with a user writing: 'An unprovoked question posed to Adam Scott by Will Arnett.'

Many users were shocked by the interaction, sharing their thoughts to social media. 

'He’s wanted to ask that for a longggg time,' someone shared.

'They say do not ask questions you already know the answer to,' quipped someone else. 

'Insane question,' declared another. 

Someone else wrote: 'The way my jaw dropped lmao I always theorized Arnett was the reason Adam hasn’t been on and when he said that.. hmm...'

Others were quick to write that the clip was definitely taken out of context.

'This is taken out of context, they’re all laughing at the start from a joke, and this is a run on of the joke, go listen to the whole thing instead of engagement farming,' slammed another.

Both Arnett and Poehler have spoken about their separation, both speaking about co-parenting their sons, Archie, 16, and Abel, 14. 

In an interview with The Guardian in 2022, Arnett opened about his painful divorce and how he moved on from it, telling the outlet it was: 'Just brutal, brutal, brutal.'

He also admitted he found it difficult filming his hit TV series, Arrested Development, during their breakup.

'I was driving to the set one day and I pulled over to the side of the road and cried for an hour,' he shared.

Arnett noted that the former pair are more involved in each other's lives now than they were previously, saying: 'I'm so lucky that we're such a huge part of each other's lives, even more so than we were five years ago.'

Poheler also spoke of her divorce in her 2014 memoir Yes Please, writing: 'I don't want to talk about my divorce because it is too sad and too personal.'

She added that she avoids speaking about it because 'I also don't like people knowing my s**t.'

Parks and Recreation premiered on NBC on April 9, 2009, and ran for seven seasons, wrapping up on February 24, 2015. 

The cast also featured Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Aziz Ansari, and Adam Scott.

The popular series earned multiple accolades, including 14 Primetime Emmy nominations, with Poehler winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress in 2014.
