A Missouri community rallied to grant the final wish of a little boy with brain cancer who was recently given just two months to live. 

Eros Tarin, 5, received the heart-shattering cancer diagnosis when he was just two years old. 

Last week, the boy's parents were told that the tumor in his brain has grown so much that chemotherapy treatments would no longer be effective, and the doctor said he expected Eros will only have two more months to live. 

The devastating news quickly rippled through Oak Grove, a small city just east of Kansas City, and the community organized a grand event to show their support for Eros and his family. 

The little boy's wish was to go on a helicopter ride, so local small business owner Miranda Ritter coordinated a flight for Eros, plus a firetruck and police escort to the hangar, which all took place on Tuesday. 

'It’s just amazing how everyone responded to my texts and social media posts, and it all came together in a matter of days,' Ritter told FOX4. 

Dozens of community members stood on the curb with handmade signs, waving at the little boy as he traveled with his parents in a firetruck, as police cars with their sirens active drove in front and behind. 

Jamie Ballowe Ratliff, who stood on the curb with her children holding one of the signs, told FOX4: 'Parents need to know they’re supported and loved on, and that child needs to feel that too.'

The parade of emergency vehicles took Eros on a 15-minute drive to a hangar in Odessa, where another crowd was waiting. 

Santa and the superhero Deadpool were waiting with gifts for the little boy, and a helicopter on the tarmac was prepared to take him in the air. 

Jared Sisk, the pilot, told FOX4 that when he heard Eros wanted to take a helicopter ride, his first thought was simply: 'When can we get it done?'

'The sooner the better. Obviously time is of the essence with this little one, and it needed to happen,' Sisk added. 

The pilot fired up the engine of his aircraft, and Eros climbed in with his dad. Sisk took the helicopter up to a hover slowly, and after the little boy gave him a thumbs up, they took off for a 10-minute ride across the Missouri countryside. 

Eros's mother, Angel Tarin, told FOX4: 'He keeps smiling even though his body is doing something we don’t want it to do. I don’t know how he does it.'

'At the end of it, I think he's going to remember this helicopter the most out of everything,' she added. 

After the event was over, Angel expressed gratitude to the community on Facebook and wrote: 'Thank u to everyone who came out to support Eros It meant the world to us, and made his wish come true riding in the helicopter.'
