Asian Games 2026 Day 5 LIVE updates: India’s campaign at the Asian Games moves into another busy day with several big medal opportunities on the cards. After adding to their medal tally on Day 4, the Indian contingent will be looking to keep the momentum going on Day 5. Manu Bhaker will be one of the biggest names in action as she takes aim in the women’s 10m air pistol, while Mirabai Chanu is set to compete in the women’s 49kg weightlifting final. The Indian men’s badminton team will also take centre stage, facing China in the semifinal as they eye a place in the gold medal match. There is plenty more action lined up across shooting, kabaddi, hockey, fencing, rowing, squash and wushu.

Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade are locked level at 2-2 against Maldives' Mohamed Ismail and Fathimath Ali. The Indian pair took the third game 11-7 to move ahead, but the Maldivian duo fought back to claim the fourth 11-9. It all comes down to the fifth and final game now.

Manu Bhaker has moved up the standings with a strong 98 in her third series, keeping India in the hunt as the qualification progresses. Suruchi Singh and Esha Singh, however, have more ground to make up after posting 94 and 93 respectively in their second series. Manu is currently sixth, while Esha and Suruchi remain outside the top 30.

SEVEN straight points and India surge to a 9-5 lead in the first match of India's men's regu team, against the Philippines in a Group B fixture. India currently stand at the bottom of the Group B chart, having earlier lost to Japan and Malaysia. That follows a rolling spike from Lokhon Singh and Arun's serving masterclass from India, and they lead 11-6 in the first set.
India eventually take the first 14-7. Remember, they were trailing 2-5 right at the start.

Balraj Panwar has booked his place in the men's singles sculls final after finishing third in his heat with a timing of 6:52.84. He was only 0.31 seconds adrift of Hong Kong's Chi Fung Chan, who finished second in the same heat. Balraj's time puts him fourth overall across the two heats, leaving him just three-tenths of a second outside the medal positions. He will now return for tomorrow's final with a medal within touching distance, but will need to find a little more pace to move into the podium spots.
