NEW YORK, September 23. /TASS/. The United States is aiming to reach an agreement on a partial ceasefire in Ukraine by the start of winter, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said.

"They are seeking a partial ceasefire by winter," he said in an interview with Bloomberg, noting that a mutual halt to strikes on energy infrastructure could be a condition for the truce.

According to the Finnish president, visits to Moscow by US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and CIA Director John Ratcliffe indicate that the US president is seeking to take an even more active role in peace talks.

Earlier on Monday, Trump stressed that it was important for Ukraine to try to reach a settlement of the conflict with Russia before winter.
