MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Russia will continue to seek proceedings on violations by the United States of its obligations as the host country of the UN headquarters, Foreign Ministry International Organizations Department Director Kirill Logvinov said in an interview with TASS.

"Russia is persistently seeking to launch proceedings in connection with the continued violations by the United States of its obligations as a host country of the UN headquarters. This is not our demand, but a specific directive that is reiterated year after year in the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly," the diplomat said on the eve of the participation of the Russian delegation led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly.

"Unfortunately, the current secretary-general of the world organization consistently evades implementing these resolutions and the relevant provisions of the 1947 Agreement on the Central Functions of the UN."

Earlier, the United States did not issue a visa to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov, who oversees the global organization’s affairs at the Russian diplomatic mission, to travel to the events organized by the UN General Assembly.

The State Department for the fifth time in a row did not issue a visa to Leonid Slutsky, the head of the State Duma’s committee on international affairs and leader of the LDPR Party, to travel to the UN General Assembly as a member of the Russian delegation.
