The University of Rhode Island (URI) Psychological Consultation Center and the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic have moved to a new location on the main floor of URI’s Social Science Research Center. 

The center and the clinic are used for clinical training for students in the College of Health Sciences’ mental and behavioral health counseling master’s degree program, the Ph.D. clinical psychology program, and the human development and family science program. The URI campus community and the local community may take advantage of these counseling services. 

The updated space has 13 therapy rooms, each with a window. Treatment spaces are equipped with audio and video equipment for live observation or recording for supervisors and clinicians to review. The facility includes increased space for clinic staff, supervisors, and students to meet and has rooms for clinical research. 

With multiple programs sharing the same space, there will be more opportunities to collaborate on clinical trainings and research, and with twice as much space, URI students will have access to more training opportunities with clients, while receiving valuable feedback from faculty. Whenever possible, clinic supervisors match a client’s needs with a clinician who has experience working with a particular issue or specific population.
