A young mother in Utah confessed to abusing her three-month-old twins after hospital tests showed seven fractures and a brain hemorrhage between the two babies.

Whitehorse and her boyfriend, Austin Meryboy, brought one of their twins to Blue Mountain Hospital in Blanding, Utah, complaining about their baby's limp arm in late August, according to a statement from the US Attorney's Office.

The parents said the baby girl was unable to lift it without crying in pain, District Court of Utah documents stated. 

The couple live in Aneth, San Juan County, Utah, a small Navajo community ten miles west of Utah's border with Colorado. 

An X-ray revealed that the baby girl had a broken humerus. In the same X-ray, doctors noticed a fractured rib, and further testing revealed a fractured knee. 

Safe and Healthy Families (SHF), an organization which works closely with the Division of Child and Family Services and law enforcement, requested that the second twin be checked for injuries also. 

The other baby, a boy, underwent a CT scan which revealed a significant brain hemorrhage, a fracture in his forearm and three fractures on his ribs each at a different stage of healing, according to court filings.

Consequently, SHF contacted the FBI to further investigate the twins' parents. 

In an interview with the FBI, the mother revealed that she sometimes gets frustrated with the children due to being around them '24/7,' according to court filings. 

The twins are especially vulnerable to injury as they were born prematurely at approximately 33 weeks. They were kept in the NICU for a month and a half after their birth, and had only been living at home with their parents since July 1st, according to court filings. 

Whitehorse confessed to forcefully bending one of the twins' arms in an attempt to get the baby into a car seat, which she believed caused the limp arm, court documents revealed. 

She also confessed to breaking the baby's arm by pulling it too aggressively out of frustration. 

The fractured knee on the other baby is alleged to be from the mother attempting to force his leg into a onesie.  

She also confessed to bouncing the baby boy on her knee out of frustration, which is believed to be the cause of his brain hemorrhage, FBI agents claimed in court filings. The claim was confirmed by a child abuse pediatrician. 

The boy's head measured at the 100th percentile due to swelling in his brain, despite his smaller size as a result of the premature birth. 

In an interview conducted by the FBI, the father revealed that he and Whitehorse are the sole caretakers of the twins, and they seldom allow others into their home. The couple have three children together. 

Whitehorse was arrested on August 26, two days after the initial hospital visit. She was charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse. 

Whitehorse was conditionally released on Thursday. She is not permitted to move residence, use any alcohol or drugs, possess any dangerous weapons, or leave the state without due notice. 

Whitehorse will likely undergo a mental health evaluation, drug testing, and a search of her house and vehicle. 

A trial will be held on November 10.

Whitehorse will be represented by the public defender assigned to her on the day of her arrest, Vanessa Ramos. The Daily Mail has reached out to Ramos for comment.
