Celebrating Labor Day Weekend, contemporary artist Allison Elkins, will serve as the Artist-In-Residence at the Edwin Hotel, Friday-Sunday.

Hotel guests, collectors and local art lovers will have the opportunity to observe the progression of a large, unfinished landscape painting from the early stages to the final touches. Working from color studies, sketches from nature and her memory, all the messy studio materials will be on view.

Mrs. Elkins grew up in Chattanooga, graduated from Girls Preparatory School and went on to Davidson College where she was awarded the Pepper Art Scholarship. She is known for her use of color, breadth of technique and large works on canvas. She has shown her work locally and internationally, and one of her landscape paintings is in the permanent collection of the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville.
